Responsibilities
To assist staff with direct and indirect patient care through engagement activities within clearly defined limits and attainment of defined competence. To work without direct supervision using initiative within the level of competence.
To support multidisciplinary ward staff to deliver a multi-component prevention of delirium and support vulnerable patients who have a suspected diagnosis or confirmed diagnosis of dementia alongside challenging behaviours and physical disabilities, using activity as a therapeutic medium to support recovery or by providing 1:1 support to meet their needs.
Ward 6A is a 16 bedded acute medical ward. This often means our patients have an element of delirium, dementia, learning difficulties, physical disabilities and challenging behaviours. This is why the Engagement Support Workers are a crucial part of the team. Our Team strives to provide the best care possible through our quality improvement work which successful candidates will have the opportunity to be a part of.
