Overview
The purpose of the job is to provide community support, with care in the home on occasion. You must be comfortable in the company of two small pet dogs in the home. This is a part-time, but proper paid role requiring a National Insurance number and a trial period. Wages are paid four weekly with holiday pay.
Requirements
* The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check, which must be completed before employment begins. The cost will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
* Non-smoker.
* A car driver with a valid driver’s licence and business insurance who is willing to use their car; mileage will be paid.
* Respect for privacy and confidentiality when working in someone’s home.
Person specification
* A patient person who understands how the disability affects the individual.
* A friendly, confident, active person.
* Experience of working with a young autistic person with limited speech; use of PECs and visual scheduling would be an advantage.
* Willingness to participate in activities the person enjoys (e.g., swimming, trampolining).
Role details
* There are 4 hours per week available, with some flexibility. If fewer hours are required, this may be shared with another PA by working alternate weeks (e.g., 8 hours per month).
* During term time, work on weekends (4 hours on either Saturday or Sunday by agreement).
* Tasks include ensuring safety at all times at home and in the community, taking the person out in your car (mileage paid), accompanying to activities, and personal care such as assisting with clothing adjustments and fastenings, shoe laces, and supporting use of grid and picture scheduling (e.g., now and next).
* RATES OF PAY: £14.50 per hour plus 40p per mile where applicable.
