My client is a leading textile manufacturer based in Forar who are seeking to appoint a Health & Safety Advisor for an initial 3-6 months contract with a view to the role being made permanent. Please see the job overview below.Health & Safety AdvisorYou will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement across our operations. You will: Lead and support reviews of specific risk assessments across various departments. Administer near‑miss reporting, maintain trackers, and support investigations in line with company SOPs. Spend meaningful time in the field conducting safety tours, Gemba walks, inspections, audits and supporting improvement of leading KPIs. Deliver risk assessment training and toolbox talks to teams across the site. Work closely with the HSE Coordinator to further develop our HSE Management System in readiness for ISO 45001 certification. Skills & ExperienceEssential Skills Excellent written and verbal communication-able to confidently coach, explain, and influence all levels of the business in a positive and constructive way. Strong ability to interpret complex hazard and risk information and help teams design effective controls in a busy manufacturing setting. Familiarity with Lean methodologies and GMP principles as they relate to safety (e.g., 5S). Strong ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint. Experience Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment (primary and secondary operations), or similar sectors such as utilities, construction, renewables, pharmaceuticals, COMAH/DSEAR sites, warehousing, or logistics. Proven experience investigating near misses, accidents, or loss‑of‑containment events using recognised methodologies. Strong familiarity with HSE guidance including HSG 245, HSG 65, HSG 253 and HSG 48. Intermediate-level experience using HSE databases such as ALSI QI, SPHERA, 52 North, EcoOnline, Sypol, Maximo etc. Ability to create and interpret HSE dashboards including leading and lagging KPIs. Experience with QMS systems (ISO 45001 preferred). QualificationsEssential Solid understanding of UK Health & Safety law, with the ability to reference specific regulations and guidance in the field. One of the following: CITB SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme), or NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. DesirableAny of the following qualifications would be a bonus: NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management IRM Certificate in Operational or Enterprise Risk Management REHIS Advanced Health and Safety Certificate ISO 9001 or 45001 Internal Auditor NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety BOHS Modules (e.g., COSHH, Noise, Ergonomics, P405) Professional Memberships Membership of a relevant professional body such as IOSH, BOHS, IRM, or similar.
