We're looking for a Commercial Waste Support Officer to support the effective and efficient delivery of the council's commercial waste service. This role plays a key part in supporting the growth, performance, and day-to-day delivery of the council's commercial waste service. You will help drive improvements in recycling, service efficiency, customer satisfaction and income generation. You'll work closely with our Senior Commercial Waste Officer, local businesses, and operational teams to maximise resources while promoting and expanding our commercial waste offer.
Responsibilities
* Support the promotion, development and expansion of the commercial waste service, including new recycling options and service upgrades, in line with legislation.
* Undertake site visits to commercial premises to assess container requirements, resolve issues, and ensure compliance.
* Conduct commercial bin audits, waste composition analysis, contamination checks and usage audits.
* Assist with the management of the council's commercial bin stock, including logging, tracking and monitoring container deliveries, removals and replacements.
* Identify opportunities to improve waste segregation, reduce contamination, increase recycling rates and enhance service efficiency.
Required skills
* Strong communication skills and willingness to positively engage with businesses.
* Ability to problem-solve on site and work collaboratively across teams.
* Commercial awareness and an understanding of waste legislation, recycling processes and compliance.
* Excellent communication skills to build relationships with customers and internal teams.
