Consultant in Older Adult CMHT Psychiatry
Location: New Mill, Saltaire. Closing date: 10 June 2026.

We are a Consultant in Older Adult CMHT Psychiatry at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Main Duties
* Assess new referrals and conduct medical reviews.
* Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and provide expert advice to GPs, liaison teams and hospitals.
* Provide home visits when necessary and offer expert advice to GPs, liaison teams and hospitals.
* Prepare reports for mental health tribunals, support research projects and supervise nurse prescribers.
* Participate in emergency assessments as part of the on‑call rota.
* Engage in teaching, clinical audit, service evaluation and maintain accurate clinical records.

Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
* Certificate of Completion of Training in General Adult Psychiatry (ST6 trainees should be within six months of attainment at the time of the interview) or CESR equivalent.
* Inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligibility for inclusion.
* Section 12 (2) MHA 1983 approval and Approved Clinician.
* MD, Other professional qualification (e.g. MSc).
Knowledge & Skills
* Effective leadership skills.
* Ability to deliver care in collaboration with service users and their families/carers.
* Ability to supervise junior staff.
* Awareness of NHS funding arrangements and recent developments.
* Ability to interpret published research and apply findings to clinical practice.
* Experience with service development and/or reconfiguration.
* Practical experience of research.
* Sympathetic to the Trust's mission.
Experience
* Experience in Older Age Psychiatry.
* Excellent clinical skills using bio‑psycho‑social perspective.
* Experience at a level allowing recognition of trainer status by the Royal College of Psychiatry.
* Experience teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.
* Evidence of experience in medical audit and understanding of clinical governance principles.
* Practical experience of clinical audit.
* Able to use and appraise clinical evidence.
* Teaching and presentation experience (e.g. conference presentation, EBM, research experience).
Other
* Ability to exercise effective leadership in a multidisciplinary team.
* Understanding of the importance of multidisciplinary service provision and the care programme approach.
* Understanding of and ability to deliver care in collaboration with service users to promote recovery.
* Sensitivity to the needs of different ethnic and minority groups.
