JOB TITLE: Residential Childcare (Team Leader)
REPORTING TO:Deputy / Registered Manager.
JOB PURPOSE
To work as a senior member of the team, leading the delivery of high-quality care and support to children and young people, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development. The Team Leader will support the management of the home, provide guidance to staff, and promote a consistent, nurturing environment.

About the Role
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Kirkby, Liverpool.
As a Team Leader, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the home, supporting staff, maintaining high standards of care, and ensuring safeguarding remains central to practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clear leadership and guidance to staff, ensuring consistent and high-quality care
* Support the Deputy and Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home
* Lead shifts, acting as the senior on duty and decision maker
* Conduct and record staff supervisions, supporting development and performance
* Oversee the implementation and review of care plans and risk assessments
* Ensure accurate and timely recording using the home’s electronic care system
* Promote a positive, professional, and child-centred culture within the home
* Act as a role model, demonstrating resilience, professionalism, and good practice
* Support staff in managing challenging behaviours in a calm and consistent manner
* Contribute to the home’s development, including preparation for Ofsted inspections
* Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment
* Respond effectively to incidents, safeguarding concerns, and emergencies
* Participate in on-call duties following appropriate training

* £14.83 per hour
* £60 sleep-in rate (including when on annual leave)

* 2-on, 4-off shift pattern:
* Day 1: 9:30am – 11:00pm (sleep-in)
* Day 2: 7:00am – 11:00pm (sleep-in)
* Day 3: 7:00am – 10:00am

Essential Requirements
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* Willingness to work towards Level 4/5 qualification
* Experience working with children or young people in a residential setting
* Previous experience in a senior, supervisory, or leadership role
* Strong leadership and decision-making skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to remain calm, resilient, and consistent in challenging situations
* Confidence using laptops and electronic care management systems
* Sound knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Ability to lead shifts and support team performance
* Flexible to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
* Honest, reliable, and professional approach
* Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
* Willingness to undertake further training and development
* Ability to participate in on-call duties following training
Desirable
* Level 4 or 5 qualification in Children’s Residential Care
* Full UK Driving Licence
* First Aid qualification
* Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training
