About the Role for an Electrical Estimator
* Tender Preparation: Prepare competitive and accurate estimates and tender submissions for various projects.
* Cost Analysis: Calculate the cost of materials, labour, equipment and transportation required for projects.
* Supplier and Subcontractor Management: Obtain quotes from subcontractors, manage their pricing and negotiate favourable rates.
* Technical Assessment: Analyse specifications, drawings and technical documents to determine project requirements.
* Risk Management: Assess and identify risks involved in electrical projects and ensure health and safety requirements are met.
* Client and Team Collaboration: Work closely with clients to understand their needs and liaise with pre-construction, design and project teams.
* Site Visits: Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings to gain detailed project information.
* Budget Monitoring: Monitor projects to ensure costs remain within the estimated budget and prepare for potential contract variations.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical systems, components and installations.
* Analytical Skills: Excellent ability to analyse complex data, specifications and financial information.
* Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to ensure accuracy in calculations and tender submissions.
* Software Proficiency: Skilled in using spreadsheets and design software.
* Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, subcontractors and project teams.
* Negotiation: Ability to negotiate effectively with subcontractors.
* Time Management: Strong organisational and time management skills to meet strict tender deadlines.
* Relevant Experience: Working experience in electrical engineering, construction management, or as an electrical estimator is highly valued.
