Overview
To take direction and daily tasks from the Chef and assist with general food preparation and cooking. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, safety, and confidentiality in the kitchen and dining environment. This role involves stock management, scheduling, and supporting the care team as part of the kitchen operations.
Responsibilities
* Carry out daily food preparation and cooking in conjunction with the Chef.
* Follow the daily cleaning regime and participate in weekly/monthly deep cleaning.
* Maintain the fabric and integrity of the building to a high standard.
* Complete required safety and health documentation (e.g., safer kitchen, better food manual) as per Environmental Health requirements.
* Monitor usage and storage of all stock and assist with weekly stock ordering with the Chef.
* Complete all required kitchen registers and logs; assist in labeling stock; monitor expiry and rotate stock.
* Record daily fridge/freezer temperatures and maintain compliance with healthy heart limits.
* Respond to requests for extra meals or sandwiches and maintain high personal hygiene.
* Adhere to manual handling, risk assessment, and fire safety protocols; report faulty equipment to maintenance/manager.
* Communicate with the team about problems or difficulties; maintain resident confidentiality/data protection.
* Adhere to unit policies and procedures; maintain up-to-date mandatory training and ongoing professional development.
* Monitor pest control, report issues, and participate as a team member.
* Maintain security of keys, alarms, and communication equipment; monitor own educational needs to meet job requirements.
* Undertake other duties following discussion with the line manager as needed.
