Job Summary
Worcestershire Royal Hospital and Countywide Neurology Services require a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Functional Neurology Disorder (FND). The post holder will join a specialist nursing team with responsibility for the neurology specialty. The Trust is the lead provider for Headache & Migraine and Epilepsy services countywide. The applicant should demonstrate the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.

Post includes working within a specialist nursing team in Neurology, managing a caseload, and acting as a link with the Worcestershire Community Trust (particularly the Community Neurology Team) to ensure timely and appropriate transfer of care in a managed way. The post requires the candidate to be an independent nurse prescriber and to have completed health assessment modules. Location: Charles Hastings Way, Worcester, Worcestershire, WR5 1DD. Pay: £47,810 to £54,710 per year. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Part-time (or full-time available).
Responsibilities
* Provide a service within the Clinical Nurse Specialist nursing team in Neurology. Manage a caseload and liaise with the Worcestershire Community Trust, especially the Community Neurology Team, to ensure timely and appropriate transfer of care.
* Ensure cohesive working between Acute and Community Neurology Services and contribute to the organisation of multidisciplinary, patient-centred care.
* Facilitate flow of patients from A&E and through the Neurology unit in line with NICE guidelines.
* Provide expert clinical advice and support to patients and their carers; support development and implementation of best practice in neurology medicine.
* Provide a specialist nursing role in assessment and management of neurology patients (in and out patients); provide outreach within the hospital for suspected or confirmed neurology cases to ensure timely management.
* Support and educate qualified and unqualified nursing staff, allied health professionals, junior doctors and students; develop nurse-led outpatient services and manage a caseload.
* Play a key role in ensuring national and local neurology targets are met.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
* First level registration; Level 6 Degree in adult Nursing; Health Assessment qualification; Nurse prescriber qualification; Neurology training/modules at level 6 or 7.
* Recent and relevant experience in Stroke or Neuro care; experience working within a multidisciplinary team and multi-agencies; advanced clinical assessment/decision making; ability to interpret complex needs and order investigations as needed; IT literate (Word, email, Excel).
* Excellent communication skills; ability to provide specialist advice; ability to work in MDT and autonomously; up-to-date with neurology issues and research; strong clinical, professional and leadership skills; experience in audits and managing change; willingness to engage in research and development; ability to work with some physical demands during shifts.
Desirable
* Involvement in clinical audit and research; experience of autonomous clinic work; teaching experience; willingness to study at MSc level.
Personal Qualities
* Flexible to meet the needs of the post; dexterity and accuracy for medication administration and drawing up medications.
