We are currently recruiting for a Tourism & Events Assistant to join Belfast City Council's dynamic Tourism and Events Team within the Place and Economy Department.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting high-profile city events, festivals, and tourism initiatives that help showcase Belfast on a global stage.
Key Responsibilities
You will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of a wide range of tourism and events activity, including:
Assisting in the organisation and delivery of major city events and festivals
Supporting marketing and promotional campaigns for tourism initiatives
Coordinating administrative processes in line with audit and council standards
Maintaining KPI, marketing, and event performance databases
Supporting funding schemes and ensuring compliance with grant conditions
Assisting with stakeholder engagement, including government bodies and external partners
Helping manage event logistics, including licensing, risk assessments, and health & safety requirements
Acting as Deputy Events Controller during live events when required
Supporting budget monitoring, procurement processes, and supplier coordination
Assisting with reports, presentations, and internal briefings
What We're Looking For
A third-level qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Event Management, Tourism, Marketing, Business Management)
At least 2 years' experience in:
Delivering large-scale public events or tourism initiatives
Marketing and promoting events or tourism programmes
Location: Belfast (Hybrid - typically 3 days office / 2 days home)
Pay Rate: £18.85 per hour
Contract: Temporary - 19 weeks
Hours: 37 hours per week
Start Date: 27 April 2026
