An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hands-on Finance Manager to join a growing and evolving business that is currently operating with a number of manual finance processes. This role will play a key part in strengthening the financial control environment, improving reporting quality, and driving forward automation and process efficiency across the finance function.
This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to shape how financial accounting is delivered within the business, working closely with senior leadership to enhance reporting, particularly around Work in Progress (WIP) and revenue recognition under IFRS 15.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the financial accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes
* Take ownership of statutory reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
* Oversee revenue recognition processes, ensuring compliance with IFRS 15, including assessment of contracts and appropriate timing of revenue recognition
* Develop and enhance WIP reporting, ensuring accuracy, visibility, and alignment with project performance
* Review and improve existing manual finance processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency gains
* Support the implementation and optimisation of finance systems and tools to improve reporting capability and data integrity
* Produce high-quality financial reports and analysis to support business decision-making
* Strengthen internal controls and ensure robust financial governance across the function
* Collaborate with operational teams to ensure financial data is accurate, consistent, and meaningful
* Manage and develop a small finance team, providing coaching, guidance, and performance support
* Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting as required
* Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and advisors
Key Requirements
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
* Strong technical accounting background with solid experience in financial accounting and reporting - ideally audit trained
* Proven experience with revenue recognition, ideally including IFRS 15
* Experience working with WIP reporting, ideally within a project-led, construction, engineering, or similar environment
* Demonstrated ability to improve processes and drive efficiencies in manual or semi-manual finance environments
* Experience with financial systems and a keen interest in automation and digital transformation
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence non-finance stakeholders
* Previous experience managing or mentoring junior team members
* Comfortable working in a growing, evolving business with changing priorities
Salary
£60,000 to £65,000 basic plus full benefits package to include Hybrid working (4 days office based in Milton Keynes)
