The Role

The Mechanical Supervisor position forms part of a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation within BDUK, working as part of a team to support key programmes. You will ensure established process adherence, accurate and timely work recording, and contractual/regulatory compliance. Reporting to an Operations Lead, you will supervise technicians in the execution of maintenance activities, plan, sequence, distribute and control technical work for a small team, and provide leadership, direction and guidance as required. You will ensure that aircraft paperwork completed by your team meets company procedures and hold or be able to obtain company supervisory authorisations on the aircraft type being worked on, including independent inspections and fulfil tasks within your authorisation. You will adopt a collaborative approach and model Airmanship, Husbandry and H&S practice within your teams.

You will need good communication skills to distribute and sequence technical work, manage demanding workloads, and maintain high standards and schedules. You must be able to read and interpret technical documents, drawings and publications, and have working knowledge of MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MAA Regulatory Publication (MRP) Part 145, aviation Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety Management System (SMS) as applied in your area of responsibility (RAA).


Responsibilities

* Deliver aircraft maintenance under Boeing’s MAA MRP Part 145 approval or under MOD customer approvals.
* Assemble, disassemble, modify systems, and manage components to correct failures or implement changes.
* Perform routine troubleshooting of complex aircraft systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical/electronic) to isolate faults and repair components in accordance with authorised maintenance data.
* Be flexible with work locations and times to ensure timely aircraft delivery.
* Provide advice, guidance and mentoring to peers and others as appropriate.
* Exercise or work under appropriate supervision as required by the role.
* Mitigate immediate risks, stop work when needed, and escalate emerging risks, issues and shortfalls promptly.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
* Where directed, exercise 100% oversight of work by Boeing Apprentices or Trainees and mentor apprentices/trainees.
* Contribute positively to an open and honest reporting culture.


Qualifications & Experience

* Recognised relevant trade apprenticeship or equivalent trade experience.
* Knowledge of general aircraft maintenance and processes in the aviation environment (Human Factors, FOD control, tool control, health & safety & COSHH).
* Experience in either commercial or defence environments is acceptable.
* Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
* Strong team member in an inclusive working culture. Be able to obtain UK security clearance post-start (this role requires the ability to obtain clearance).

The position requires UK residency for security clearance and the ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC) post-start.
