Job overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and forward‑thinking team, committed to driving improvements in patient safety.

The Patient Safety Coordinator will support the delivery of the Trust’s Patient Safety Strategy and the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).

Working closely with the Head of Patient Safety and the wider team, the postholder will coordinate key functions including communication, reporting, training support, and project administration.


Main duties of the job

As the first point of contact for the Patient Safety Team, the role involves managing the generic mailbox, triaging queries, disseminating safety alerts, producing learning bulletins, and supporting meetings and events. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement, requiring strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety.

We are looking for candidates who:

* are well organised with comprehensive knowledge of administrative and organisational policies and processes, preferably in a complex healthcare setting
* have significant knowledge of risk management systems and demonstrable experience in use of Microsoft Office suite
* are to handle queries and sensitive information with tact and discretion.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

*
o Act as first point of contact for the Patient Safety Team, managing queries and communications.
o Coordinate safety alerts, learning bulletins, meetings, and training events.
o Maintain patient safety records, databases, and project tracking systems.
o Provide administrative support for committees and improvement programmes.
o Analyse data and produce reports to support patient safety workstreams.
o Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to promote learning and continuous improvement.


Person specification


Education & skills


Essential criteria

* Degree level education / equivalent level experience
* Significant experience of risk management systems
* Good understanding of patient safety/PSIRF
* Proven ability to communicate complex/sensitive information across multiple stakeholders/levels
* Experience of administration experience - scheduling and administrating meetings, including minutes, actions and papers
* Knowledge of developing and managing office systems and processes
* Development and maintenance of databases, tracking systems and/or action logs and monitoring progress to key targets
* Well organised and able to respond to competing demands whilst prioritising own workload and meeting deadlines
* Able to analyse data and information to support production of reports and presentations
* Knowledge/use of PARIS system
* Knowledge/experience in web-page construction and management


Desirable criteria

* Knowledge of Duty of Candor and how this applies to patient safety events
