Detailed job description and main responsibilities

* Work in close partnership with industry partners, to ensure that a high-quality secretariat service is in place for all meetings between The Royal Marsden and industry partners.
* These include but are not limited to the following:

o Portfolio Review and Scientific Exchange Meetings
o Cross-study Operational Review Meetings
o Portfolio Deliver Assessment Meetings
o New Capabilities Assessment Meetings

* Provide clinical research committee secretariat for The Royal Marsden's and industry partners meetings.
* Liaise with the Head of Clinical Research Delivery and industry partner to develop agenda and papers.

Person specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria

* Degree qualification (e.g. BA/BSc) in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
* Commitment to continued professional development.

Desirable criteria

* Higher degree qualification (e.g. MA/MSc) in a relevant subject.
* Project management qualification.
* Experience in oncology

Experience

Essential criteria

* Experience of providing high level committee secretariat support.
* Experience of preparing high quality and succinct minutes of meetings, including senior leadership meetings.
* Development, implementation and management of highquality tracking systems for workstreams and arising actions
* Delivery of projects to time and target.
* Demonstrable experience of independent working requiring a high level of decisiveness and judgement
* Experience of identifying the key points contained within complex issues and communicating these effectively
* Experience of effective communication with senior staff in a range of contexts, including at the level of Chief Executive Officer, Executive Directors and Non-Executive Directors.

Desirable criteria

* Experience of developing a strong culture of customer service.
* Experience of working across organisations to foster close partnership working.

Skills / knowledge

Essential criteria

* Proven ability to lead high performing team and ensure consistent high-quality outputs.
* Ability to use initiative to highlight potential problems/issues and to implement successful solutions.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills, including the ability to interact positively with very senior stakeholders
* Self-starter, with ability to prioritise effectively and work flexibly to tackle new challenges and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
* High levels of literacy and numeracy.
* Team working skills.
* Excellent IT skills; including MS Office suite and relevant project management software.
* Resilient with a drive and capacity for quick and accurate turnaround of work.

Flu Vaccination - What We Expect of our Staff

At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.

The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
