Job Title: Advanced Practitioner – Children’s Services (Disabled Children Team)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join the Disabled Children Team within Northamptonshire Children’s Trust. This is a rewarding locum opportunity offering hybrid working, with a requirement to attend the office to support the team when needed.
In this role, you will utilise your advanced social work expertise to manage a small caseload of complex cases, while also working jointly on cases with less experienced social workers. You will play a key role in driving high standards of practice and supporting positive outcomes for children with disabilities and their families.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a small caseload of complex and high-risk cases within the Disabled Children Team.
* Work jointly with less experienced social workers, providing guidance on casework.
* Supervise, mentor, and support newly qualified and junior staff.
* Authorise assessments, care plans, and key documentation.
* Chair strategy meetings and contribute to decision-making processes.
* Ensure practice aligns with legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding standards.
* Support planning for permanence and positive outcomes for children in care.
Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
* Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in children’s services
* Strong experience managing complex cases, ideally within disability services
* Proven ability to mentor, supervise, and support team members
* Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, legislation, and best practice
Working Arrangements
* Hybrid working model (to be discussed at interview)
* Office base: One Angel Square, Northampton
* Expectation to attend the office to provide team support when required
