Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join SEN school. This fantastic school in the heart of Bournemouth provides a specialised learning environment for children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health), speech and language difficulties, physical disabilities, and cognitive impairments. We are committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive, and safe space where every pupil can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support students with SEN to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
* Assist in implementing individual learning plans and behavior management strategies.
* Provide emotional and social support to help students develop confidence and resilience.
* Support students during transitions, breaks, and outdoor activities.
* Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to monitor progress.
* Promote a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
* Record observations and contribute to the ongoing assessment of student progress.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN or behavioral needs.
* Knowledge of behavior management and de-escalation techniques.
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Supporting Children and Young People or similar) is desirable but not essential.
