WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Plumber’s Mate to support our plumbing and heating engineers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems across residential and commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have previous experience assisting qualified plumbers, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service. You’ll work closely with engineers on-site, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standard.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assist qualified plumbers with the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and heating systems.
* Prepare tools, materials, and equipment required for daily tasks.
* Carry out basic plumbing work such as cutting and fitting pipes, sealing joints, and testing systems under supervision.
* Ensure all work areas are kept clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
* Support with loading, unloading, and transporting materials to and from site.
* Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies.
* Communicate effectively with engineers, site managers, and customers.
* Assist with record keeping, including completion of daily job sheets and material logs.
* Work respectfully within occupied properties, maintaining high levels of customer care.
* Contribute to team efficiency by anticipating the needs of plumbers and ensuring smooth workflow.
* Attend toolbox talks, training sessions, and site inductions as required.
* Uphold company values and professional standards at all times.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
* Basic understanding of plumbing systems and components.
* Previous experience as a plumber’s mate or in a similar role (preferred but not essential).
* CSCS card (or willingness to obtain).
* Good knowledge of health and safety practices on site.
* Strong practical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions.
* Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn new skills.
* Physically fit and comfortable working in various environments.
* Full UK driving licence (preferred).
* NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing or working towards qualification (advantageous).
