Commercial Trading Underwriter - Salary between £40,000 and £60,000
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Commercial Trading Underwriter to join our UK-wide Delegated Authority/Schemes team.
As an Underwriter in this team, you will be responsible for servicing brokers who have delegated authority for specific commercial insurance schemes. This role involves managing business relationships and being the main point of contact for referrals outside the broker’s delegated authority.
You will work closely with brokers and customers to understand their needs, leveraging data and insights to improve performance and profitability. You will also collaborate with brokers to enhance efficiencies and support growth.
This role is suitable for an experienced Underwriter, either from a broker or insurer background, who is passionate about developing their career and enjoys nurturing mutually beneficial relationships.
A bit about the job:
1. Providing technical referral support for Brokers and lower licence holders, aligned with our Underwriting Strategy and customer/broker value.
2. Monitoring overall Delegated Authority Schemes performance and contributing to Aviva’s strategy.
3. Understanding regulatory requirements related to Delegation of Underwriting authority.
4. Ensuring the implementation of material changes to Delegated Authority Schemes, including documentation, UW Guide, pricing, and wordings.
5. Identifying profitable development opportunities within individual Delegated Authority Schemes.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
* Proven experience in Commercial Motor and/or Commercial Property & Liability underwriting.
* Strong relationship management skills.
* Ability to handle complex risks and technical referrals, supporting and mentoring junior team members.
* Effective risk analysis, communication, and presentation skills for brokers and customers.
* Confidence to lead and challenge Broker partners to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
