Overview
We are seeking a skilled Structural Steel Cut and Drill Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role involves operating specialised machinery to accurately cut and drill structural steel components, ensuring precise fabrication for construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with fabrication processes, and familiarity with CAD software. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills within a dynamic industrial environment. Experience using a Vernet Behringer Saw Drill Line is preferred.
Responsibilities
* Operate and programme steel cutting and drilling machines, ensuring accurate processing of materials according to technical drawings and specifications.
* Set up machinery using appropriate tooling and fixtures, adjusting parameters via programmable logic controllers (PLCs) as required.
* Interpret technical drawings using CAD or SolidWorks to determine cutting and drilling patterns.
* Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including calibration, lubrication, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
* Handle materials safely within the warehouse environment, including loading, unloading, and moving steel components using appropriate handling equipment.
* Conduct quality checks on finished products to verify dimensions and tolerances meet project standards.
* Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in fabrication or manufacturing environments, particularly with steel or metal components.
* Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks; experience with milling or other machining processes is advantageous.
* Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for machine operation adjustments.
* Mechanical knowledge related to tooling setup, materials handling, welding, and assembly processes.
* Competence in using hand tools and basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
* Previous warehouse experience or familiarity with materials management is desirable.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately.
