Responsibilities
Warwickshire College is looking to appoint a highly qualified and experienced practitioner to deliver high‑quality Additional Learning Support for students with SEND. The role involves supporting the SEND agenda, collaborating with the Heads of Inclusion, managing the SEN team, developing access arrangements and support packages, maintaining compliance with EHC plans, providing CPD for staff, securing funding for additional learning support, attending ‘Teaching Essentials’ training and occasionally undertaking exam invigilation duties.
* Establish and maintain communication with Personal Learning Advisers, MIS Liaison Coordinators, the Inclusion Team and Lecturers to ensure that students with SEN receive appropriate support.
* Monitor and contribute to the annual review cycle of EHC plans in line with SEND requirements.
* Lead and manage a team of SEN Team Leaders and support them in the timely completion of Local Authority placement consultations for EHCP Plan holders, including complex needs.
* Support the recruitment, selection and deployment of Learning Mentors.
* Collaborate with the Head of Learning Support to create a CPD programme for teaching and support staff that meets SEN learners’ needs.
* Work with the Head Learning Support to secure local authority funding for additional learning support and High Needs learners.
* Operate within a learning process that maximises opportunities and resources and is responsive to the needs of existing and potential learners.
* Use innovative, high‑quality learning methods, modes of delivery and resources to progress inclusive learning based on assessment data and allocated schemes of work.
* Continue professional development by liaising with external agencies as necessary.
* Create a culture of continuous improvement that delivers agreed quality standards within the area.
* Attend college‑delivered ‘Teaching Essentials’ training.
* Support during busy exam periods by undertaking exam invigilator duties as required.
Qualifications
* GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or Level 2 equivalent qualification.
* Academic qualification at Level 4 (or equivalent).
* SEN specialist qualification at Level 3 or above.
* Hold or be willing to undertake a teaching qualification (AET).
* Experience of teaching or supporting learners with SEN.
* Experience of managing a team.
