Job Summary
We're looking for an experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO) to provide night-time nuisance cover for a Council in Essex on a 4-month contract. Working Monday to Friday, 6pm-8am, you'll respond to reports of dust nuisance, carry out on-site investigations, gather evidence, and take enforcement action where needed. You'll also complete full prosecution files and may need to give evidence in court. There's likely to be some routine monitoring in a set area, but you'll be paid for every hour on call, not just when called out.

Qualifications
You need solid experience in statutory nuisance investigations, particularly around dust and air quality, and be confident handling enforcement and legal processes. The right person will be mobile and local (or nearby) to ensure quick response times. You must be competent to visit, collect evidence, and, if a statutory nuisance is witnessed, take enforcement action and complete a prosecution file. You'll also need to work safely during night hours - sometimes paired with another officer for support.
Compensation
In return, you'll earn £55+ per hour, paid across the full shift from 6pm-8am. This is a great opportunity for a confident EHO who's ready to take on a challenging, well-paid role, supporting a proactive Essex council in tackling environmental nuisance head-on.
