Job Description
We’re looking for an experienced Technical Buyer – Composites to join our Purchasing team and play a key role in supporting the delivery of high‑performance composite components. This is a hands‑on role working closely with Engineering, Quality, Finance and internal stakeholders to ensure the timely, cost‑effective supply of technically complex parts and tooling.
You’ll have full ownership of composite component sourcing — from supplier selection through to parts on the shelf — while helping to embed best‑practice procurement processes across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Source and procure composite components and tooling to support production and development requirements
* Manage supplier selection, validation and performance in collaboration with Quality, Finance and Engineering
* Negotiate commercial terms to ensure best value for money while respecting agreed budgets
* Own the end‑to‑end purchasing process, ensuring compliant, accurate and timely PO management
* Monitor lead times and proactively chase deliveries to meet project deadlines
* Support recovery actions where deliveries or projects are at risk
* Provide accurate cost estimates to support budgeting and forecasting
* Identify cost‑saving opportunities and challenge avoidable costs
* Support continuous improvement of purchasing policies, processes and ways of working
* Maintain clear, accurate reporting of purchasing activity
What We’re Looking For
* Strong technical understanding of composite components and manufacturing processes (Formula 1 or high‑performance engineering experience desirable)
* Ability to read and understand technical drawings
* Proven experience purchasing engineered or technical components
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of procurement best practice (CIPS qualification desirable but not essential)
* Confident negotiator with a strong commercial mindset
* Comfortable working with ERP systems (Microsoft AX preferred) and MS Office
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
* Highly organised, detail‑focused and able to manage multiple priorities
