Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker to join our team within the University of Derby and Burton Hospitals Gynaecology Outpatients Department.
We are looking for a compassionate and highly motivated individual to join our team. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for caring for women undergoing a range of gynaecology and fertility issues.
You will be working alongside a supportive and committed MDT. The service ethos is to provide compassionate care and support to all our patients while attending their outpatient appointments.
Our department delivers specialist, evidence-based, holistic care to women with gynaecological conditions in an environment that supports patient choice and dignity. Our team consists of Consultant Gynaecologists, Senior Sister, Sister, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Registered Nurses, Health Care Support Workers and Modern Housekeeper.
We work 5 days a week, shifts available are Monday - Friday 08:30 - 18:30.
*You will need to provide evidence of your Healthcare qualification*
You will also be required to complete a Maths and English assessment prior to being interviewed. (This will be completed at UHDB)

Main Duties of the Job
* The post holder will practice in a holistic, non-judgmental, caring and compassionate manner that avoids assumptions, supports social inclusion and recognises and respects individual choice and acknowledges diversity.
* You will liaise closely with the senior team to ensure efficient and effective bi-directional communication, in order to deliver a high-quality service to the patient and their relative.

Person Specification – Education, Training and Qualifications (CPD Requirements)
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care gained by working in a vocational capacity or relevant healthcare support work experience.
* Care Certificate standard training gained by working in a vocational capacity — we will not accept an online care certificate.
* To be able to demonstrate basic numeracy and literacy.
Desirable
* Evidence of additional developmental courses undertaken relevant to HCSW role.
Experience & Knowledge – Essential
* Demonstrable experience working in a care environment within the UK (required for completion of NVQ 2).
* To be able to provide a good understanding of the role of a Healthcare Support Worker and can evidence this in the application form.
* Flexible and able to carry out role in different clinical environments where needed within the Trust.
Desirable Experience & Knowledge
* Demonstrable experience of having supervised a junior colleague.
Skills and Ability – Essential
* To be able to demonstrate the ability to organise and plan daily work tasks or activities working on own initiative.
* To be able to demonstrate the ability to demonstrate duties to new starters if needed, and share duties.
* To be able to demonstrate the ability to accurately maintain standard documentation and update patient records.
* Demonstrable IT skills to input data.
