West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner internship (Performance) – Graduate or Sandwich Year Opportunity. Full‑time 12‑month fixed term. Location: Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner in West Midlands. Closing Date: 12 noon Friday 29 May 2026. This is a politically restricted post.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a newly graduated intern with an interest in analysing performance to provide analytical support and capacity to the Performance function within our office. You will contribute to holding West Midlands Police to account by assisting in the interpretation and reporting of performance information. This includes analysis of data and production of information to help understand trends in police performance. There will be opportunities to complete research into particular areas that impact policing and the criminal justice system.
Qualifications
Some knowledge of research techniques, methods and application; ability to proficiently analyse quantitative data; confidence to present results in reports. Understanding of data quality and information governance issues. Ability to utilise a full range of standard office IT software/packages, particularly Excel or Power BI.
Additional Information
This role would suit someone interested in the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner and who wants to gain and develop skills in the public sector working for a politician. The individual would have the opportunity to shadow the PCC and staff and support key priorities; training will be provided where required.
