Accounts Payable Clerk – Retail | 6-9-Month Fixed Term Contract

I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a leading
retail business
that is seeking an experienced
Accounts Payable Clerk / AP Assistant
to join their busy finance team on a
6-9-month fixed term contract
. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid accounts payable experience who is looking to join a well-established brand in a fast-paced environment.
You'll be part of the finance team, taking ownership of the accounts payable function and ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time. Key responsibilities will include:
* Processing high volumes of supplier invoices, credit notes, and staff expenses
* Reconciling supplier statements and resolving queries promptly
* Managing the AP inbox and maintaining strong supplier relationships
* Preparing weekly and monthly payment runs
* Assisting with month-end close, accruals, and reporting tasks
* Supporting the wider finance function with ad-hoc projects
The ideal candidate will have:
* Proven experience in
accounts payable / purchase ledger
roles (retail sector experience is advantageous but not essential)
* Ability to handle large volumes of invoices in a fast-paced environment
* Strong communication skills for dealing with suppliers and internal teams
* Good Excel knowledge and familiarity with finance systems
* A proactive and organised approach with excellent attention to detail
