Location: Wokingham, UK (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week)

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Backup & Storage Administrator to join a critical IT environment supporting enterprise-level infrastructure and backup operations. You’ll be working within a hybrid model, contributing both remotely and onsite in Wokingham, 3 days per week. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of the backup and storage infrastructure in a high-availability setting.
What You'll Be Doing
* Manage and support enterprise backup and storage systems (NetBackup, HP 3Par, Nimble, NetApp).
* Administer SAN fabrics, switches, and related components.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues across storage and backup platforms in high-availability environments.
* Write and maintain shell scripts for automation and system support.
* Manage environments running RedHat Linux (v6–v9) and Windows Server (2012–2022).
* Collaborate with stakeholders, challenge constructively, and ensure smooth communication across technical and non-technical teams.
* Deliver technical leadership, mentoring junior team members where needed.
* Maintain a proactive approach to risk management, documentation, and system reliability.
* Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Strong hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup.
* Experience with HP 3Par, Nimble, and NetApp storage solutions.
* SAN administration expertise (fabric switches, zoning, fault analysis).
* Linux (RedHat) and Windows server support skills.
* Proficient in scripting (e.g., Bash/Shell).
* Familiarity with networking protocols and infrastructure fundamentals.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Strong analytical thinking and ability to work under limited guidance.
* Eligible to pass SC-level security vetting.
Desirable:
* Experience in ITIL-based support environments.
* Track record of resolving issues in business-critical real-time systems.
* Previous experience in 2nd-line or field-support roles.
* Prior mentoring or training of technical team members.
