Element has an opportunity for a Senior Cyber Engineer to become part of our growing Cyber Engineering Services.
A successful candidate will possess a solid foundation as a security engineer, responsible for ensuring the security of complex global environments and designing security solutions at scale. This includes extensive expertise in application, cloud, and infrastructure domains.
In this hybrid role, you will design and implement highly secure technical solutions to protect against cyber threats and potential cyber-attacks. The focus will be on detection engineering within Element's security tooling.
Core Responsibilities
* Assist in designing and implementing technical solutions and security toolsets to address vulnerabilities, mitigate threats, and automate tasks.
* Contribute to planning, implementing, and managing the security operations tooling roadmap.
* Collaborate on the engineering, management, monitoring, and upgrades of cybersecurity infrastructure and technologies.
* Create and maintain detection rules to identify suspicious activities and threats.
* Participate in creating, implementing, and optimizing SIEM event correlation rules and content.
* Support the transition of projects into operational services.
* Develop technical solutions and new security toolsets for vulnerability mitigation and automation.
* Ensure documentation and procedures are up-to-date and adhered to.
* Conduct security checks and troubleshoot issues.
* Maintain standard operating procedures and protocols.
* Work closely with the Cyber Defence team to uphold enterprise defense practices.
* Support incident response efforts as needed.
* Assist with operational and management reporting.
Skills / Qualifications
* Self-motivated with a positive attitude, supporting business growth through security as an enabler.
* Strong intellectual agility with effective application across various business contexts.
* Expertise in at least one security domain: Platform Protection, Network Architecture, or Cloud Security.
* Ability to review and provide input on designs, reports, procedures, and standards.
* Strong communication skills to translate technical findings for non-technical audiences.
* Thorough understanding of security principles, techniques, and trends.
* Experience with networking in complex, multi-site, multinational environments.
* Experience with security technologies like NDR, content filtering, FW, IPS, IDS, DDoS, EDR/MDR, DAST/SAST, IAM, SIEM, SOAR, log management.
* Knowledge in cyber defense operations.
* Previous experience as a Cyber Security Engineer or related roles such as Network or Server Engineer.
* Experience working internationally and in multicultural settings.
* Proactive communication skills across organizational levels.
* Interest or experience in working within complex, federated organizations, and infrastructure/support development is advantageous.
