Water Hygiene Specialist Darent Valley Hospital Full time, 37.5 hours per week Salary competitive plus basic plus Serco benefits. Main Purpose: We are actively seeking a Water Manager of Domestic Water Systems who will be responsible for the efficient and reliable operation and ensuring safe and adequate water supply for hospital residence. This includes managing water treatment plants, monitoring water quality, and overseeing maintenance and repairs of the system. They also handle water supply distribution and may manage budget and resources related to water infrastructure projects. Main Accountabilities: Water Treatment and Distribution: Oversee the operation of water treatment plants, ensuring they meet quality standards and regulatory requirement specifically around HTMS for hospitals. Water Quality Monitoring: Monitor water quality parameters, conduct water testing, and ensure compliance with water quality regulations. Maintenance and Repair: Manage the maintenance and repair of water infrastructure, including pipes, pumps, and other equipment and understand how DHW systems are balanced and be able to identify and fault find when required. Water Supply Management: Manage water supply, including balancing supply and demand, and addressing water shortages or emergencies. Budget and Resource Management: Manage budgets for water infrastructure projects, ensure efficient resource allocation, and track project expenses. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant water quality regulations and environmental laws. Staff Supervision: Supervise and train water treatment plant operators and other related staff. Emergency Response: Respond to water emergencies, such as water main breaks or contamination incidents. Capital Planning: Participate in long-term planning for water infrastructure needs, including capital improvements and expansions. Public Relations: Communicate with our client and NHS about water quality and related issues. What you will need for the role: Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of water treatment processes, water quality standards, and water infrastructure maintenance. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse water quality data, identify trends, and make informed decisions. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and respond effectively to emergencies. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with staff, the public, and regulatory agencies. Management Skills: Ability to manage staff, budgets, and projects effectively. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant water quality regulations and environmental laws. Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as a water treatment and understanding of Legionella and Pseudomonas, preferably RP trained.
