Buyer - Food
Wembley (onsite)
£34,000-£40,000 per annum
We are working exclusively with a well-established, growing food manufacturing business based in Wembley to appoint a Buyer into their procurement team. This is an immediate start opportunity for someone who is ready to hit the ground running and take real ownership of a busy and varied category.
This is a hands-on buying role with genuine autonomy. You will manage a portfolio of 20 to 25 suppliers across food ingredients and commodities with a particular focus on nuts, pulses and related categories taking full ownership of those relationships from day one.
This is not a role where you will be micromanaged. They want someone who can operate independently, build strong supplier relationships, and keep everything running smoothly across pricing, admin and supply continuity.
The Role
* Manage and develop relationships with 20 to 25 suppliers across nuts, pulses and food commodities
* Negotiate pricing, terms, MOQs and service levels directly with suppliers
* Maintain accurate and up to date pricing, lead times and availability data within internal systems
* Generate and manage new product codes and support the onboarding of new suppliers
* Support NPD activity by sourcing new or alternative raw materials and providing cost input
* Manage the QA held stock process to achieve appropriate commercial outcomes
* Monitor commodity markets, cost drivers and supply risks
* Identify and deliver cost saving and value improvement initiatives
* Work closely with Planning, Stock Control, Technical and QA teams to ensure continuity of supply and compliance
* Support the Critical Path process to ensure new product launches are delivered on time
* Take on projects as assigned and contribute to wider procurement team objectives
What We're Looking For
* 2 to 5 years buying experience within food manufacturing or FMCG — essential
* Proven experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating pricing
* Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload without close supervision
* Strong commercial awareness and understanding of cost drivers and margin impact
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
* Strong Excel skills — confident with data manipulation
* Power BI experience a bonus but not essential
* Able to start immediately or at short notice
