The NHSGGC Medicines Planning, Policy and Guidance Team are recruiting!

This post is Fixed Term/Secondment to February 2026

Are you an ambitious pharmacist looking to develop new skills in access to new medicines, medicines planning and horizon scanning?

A fixed-term/secondment opportunity up to March 2026 has arisen for an experienced and dynamic pharmacist to join the Medicines Planning, Policy & Guidance (MPG) team based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. You will be responsible for the delivery of the Medicines Planning process for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) ensuring the managed entry of new medicines, horizon scanning and medicines planning, reporting to finance and various medicines governance/finance committees on the potential budgetary impact of new medicines. You will also input into identifying prescribing efficiencies across the acute and the primary care sectors.

The MPG team is part of the Medicines Information & Governance team based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and leads on the development and maintenance of medicines governance policies, formulary management, horizon scanning to support the managed entry of new medicines, the production of information on safe and cost-effective use of medicines, including the production of a Therapeutics Handbook for the acute hospitals.

You will be a team-player with excellent written and verbal communication skills and numeracy skills. You must be able to demonstrate excellent time management and leadership skills. You must have the ability to process and use complex medical information and have excellent critical thinking and appraisal skills. You will be expected to work autonomously and must be able to effectively prioritise your own workload.

The MPG team are a dynamic, forward thinking team who encourage new and innovative ways of working. As a key member of the team you will be supported to develop your skills, knowledge and experience in this specialist area of pharmacy.

You are required to have a Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent experience and will be a member of the General Pharmaceutical Council with relevant post registration experience and evidence of postgraduate training and professional development. This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland's PVG Scheme and will require the ability to travel across various locations within NHSGGC.
