Job overview
There is an exciting opportunity for a band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work on our SLT bank which could include working across the Community SLT service (Harrogate or Northallerton) and/or acute inpatients at Harrogate District Hospital.
The community SLT team covers communication and swallowing patients in their own homes, care home settings and in outpatient clinics across Harrogate and Hambleton & Richmondshire. The acute SLT team cover the inpatients at Harrogate District Hospital, including adult neuro, critical care, surgery, elderly care and rehab.
We run weekly Videofluoroscopy and FEES clinics, we are an established and valued member of several MDTs (Stroke, MND, PD, ENT, Critical Care) We are a forward thinking and innovative team with a strong focus on well-being in the work place.
Main duties of the job
* Assessment and treatment of adult patients with communication and swallowing needs in a hospital setting or in the community (including domiciliary visits)
* Working closely within MDTs and with the wider SLT team
The post will enable you to continue to develop your specialist skills within a supportive team structure, with regular supervision
Providing support, supervision and training of junior SLTs and/or SLT assistants as required

* Independent management of dysphagia
