Outreach Tutor – Borough of Brent
Location: Borough of Brent (usually in the students home with the parent present or sometimes in a nearby library)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Each student is given 15 hours of tuition; Term time only, Monday–Friday within normal school hours between 9am–4pm
Salary: £30–£40 per hour (depending on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking experienced and compassionate Outreach Tutors to work with primary or secondary-aged students in the Borough of Brent. Many of our learners have Special Educational Needs or are school refusers, requiring patient, tailored support to help them re-engage with learning.
Tuition typically takes place in the student’s home (with a parent present) or in a local library. Tutors will work with each student for approximately 10–15 hours in total and may tutor up to two children.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver personalised 1:1 or small-group tuition sessions in English, Maths, and other core subjects.
* Adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs and learning styles of students with SEN or anxiety around education.
* Build positive relationships with students and parents to encourage engagement and progress.
* Set clear learning goals, track progress, and provide regular feedback to coordinators and parents.
* Maintain accurate records of attendance, lesson content, and student achievements.
Requirements
* Enhanced DBS certificate (must be current and valid).
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Minimum 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience.
* Experience supporting SEN learners or those with barriers to education.
