Job Title: Maintenance Worker - Repairs / Refurbishments / Painting / Decorating
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience
Location: Dorset & Hampshire
Hours: 40 per week, usual roster including 7am-3pm / 8am-4pm depending on business needs (flexibility required)
Essential requirements: You must hold a valid UK driving licence, with the ability to commute to locations including Southampton to Poole and surrounding areas
Beaufort Education and Care provides therapeutic residential care for children and young people aged 6 to 18 years old, focusing on the needs of the child.
Our Estates and Maintenance team ensures a comprehensive service, undertaking all aspects of property repair within our children's homes in Dorset and Hampshire.
We are expanding and recruiting a new Maintenance and Repairs Technician / Worker to join our team.
About The Role
Reporting to the Head of Estates, your key responsibilities include:
1. Responding to maintenance needs for each property
2. Carrying out repairs, refurbishments, planned improvements with a multi-skilled approach
3. Painting and decorating
4. Plumbing works
5. Light carpentry
6. Grounds and building maintenance
7. Conducting maintenance inspections of homes and offices
8. Ensuring health and safety compliance
9. Meeting regulatory requirements set by Ofsted and HSE
You will work in children's homes that observe strict safeguarding measures, alongside childcare staff, managers, Directors, and external contractors.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
1. Hold a valid UK driving licence
2. Be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team
3. Build effective working relationships professionally
4. Have excellent communication skills in spoken and written English
5. Plan and respond to maintenance needs efficiently
6. Manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks
7. Ensure a safe and efficient work environment
8. Take pride in the quality of painting and decorating
9. Have good knowledge of building systems: mechanical, plumbing, heating, carpentry, electrical
10. Undertake risk assessments as needed
11. Negotiate with suppliers and contractors
12. Safeguard children at all times
13. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
