Teaching Personnel are recruiting a resilient and confident Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil on a 1:1 basis in a primary school based in Ely, Cardiff. The role involves supporting a pupil who can display challenging and occasionally violent behaviour, so experience in behaviour management is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil throughout the school day.
* Manage challenging behaviour and use de-escalation strategies effectively.
* Follow behaviour plans, safety protocols, and personalised routines.
* Support the class teacher and ALNCo in delivering a consistent approach.
* Build a trusting and supportive relationship focused on emotional and academic progress.
* Maintain a calm, patient, and proactive attitude at all times.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs.
* Confidence and resilience in high-pressure situations.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm and consistent.
* A positive, nurturing approach to helping children regulate and engage.
* A DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
