Plant Mechanic
Pay: £40,000+ per annum DOE
Hours: 7:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent
Location: Beccles
Hales Group are pleased to be recruiting for a Plant Mechanic for our client based in Beccles. This role offers a varied workload, a friendly team environment, and long‑term employment prospects for the right candidate.
You will be working within a busy workshop and yard environment - responsible for the inspection, service, maintenance and repair of a wide range of machinery and equipment. This will include mobile plant, diesel‑powered kit, and other components used in operations.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine inspections, servicing and repairs on plant equipment including:
16t fork trucks
Telehandlers
Scissor lifts
Diesel pressure washers
Pumps, valves, hoses and tank‑related components
Accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults
Complete maintenance, repairs and servicing
Perform thorough inspections to identify potential issues and recommend preventative maintenance
Work safely and comply with all site Health & Safety procedures
Maintain accurate service records and documentation
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Time‑served or qualified engineering background in plant, construction or heavy equipment maintenance
Strong mechanical skills, with some auto‑electrical knowledge
The ability to diagnose faults and work independently when required
Experience with pumps, motors, valves, or similar mechanical systems would be an advantage
Welding or basic fabrication skills (beneficial but not essential)
A full UK driving licence
Your own transport due to the site location
This role is workshop and yard based and involves manual handling of plant components.
