Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a substantive consultant working 8 PAs in Plastic & Reconstruction surgery to join our expanding department in the beautiful city of Chester. This role is predominantly to aid with a surge in demand of skin cancer referrals as well as supporting general plastic services. The successful candidate will be expected to have an interest in general plastic surgery with a large proportion of skin cancer cases making up the bulk of elective work. The post also involves some orthoplastic support for lower limb cases in Oswestry and locally.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
* Provide care for patients referred by general practitioners and other hospital departments; undertake clinics, ward rounds and theatre lists as appropriate.
* Develop and deliver an 8 PA job plan agreed with the Lead Clinician in Plastic Surgery and the Planned Care operational management team; subject to annual review.
* Participate in a 1‑in‑4 on‑call service (currently under review). Conference calls from home for telephone advice to resident doctors.

* Pay scheme: Hospital medical and dental staff

* Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per year pro‑rata

Person Specification
* Essential Qualifications & Skills
o FRCS (Plast)
o On GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery or within 6 months of CCT/CCST at the time of application.
o Fellowship or equivalent experience in orthoplastic / lower limb trauma
* Essential Clinical Experience
o Wide clinical experience in general Plastic surgery
o Independent management of skin cancer and orthoplastic / lower limb trauma
o Independent management of all plastic and hand trauma
* Desirable Special Interests
o Other sub‑interests such as breast, hand or skin are also desirable
* Teaching & Training Experience
o Experience / interest in teaching
o Training the Trainers Course
* Desirable Teaching Skills
o Other teaching skill courses or qualifications
* Management & Administrative Experience
o Demonstrate the use of Clinical Audit within the Service
o Demonstrate the use of research and evidence base to practice
* Desirable Audit & Research Experience
o Relevant experience in undertaking and organisation of Audit
o Research and publications relevant to post
Additional Information
Applicants must have current UK professional registration and a valid DBS check. Funding of the DBS check will be deducted from salary over the first three months of employment. Option to enrol in the DBS Update Service (annual fee £16). This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
