Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, you will work within the Operations department to support new product development projects from concept through to manufacturing.

You will be responsible for the research, development, concept validation and implementation of manufacturing & test processes for electric drives which will be fully scalable to meet future demand, providing technical guidance and direction to cross functional teams during every stage of the project to ensure best practices for manufacture.

The role also encompasses supporting and improving current production capacity, productivity, and product quality by providing engineering support to the operation team.

Responsibilities

* Develop manufacturing and testing processes by analysing product requirements through research, design, modifying and testing of new concepts.
* Take ownership of both manufacturing and testing improvement projects from planning through to implementation and validation.
* Identify inefficiencies or technical issues in existing manufacturing and testing methods, work with relevant parties to implement practical, innovative and sustainable solutions.
* Generate novel ideas to find new process technology while ensuring robust product quality.
* Support the test department with commissioning of new test cells to ensure product validation activities are completed in line with business objectives.
* Justify new equipment costs to facilitate manufacturing processes (CAPEX).
* Provide engineering solutions for in house and customer driven concerns using recognised methodologies (DMAIC, 8D, 5Why’s, etc).
* Monitor and develop ways to increase productivity, quality, and reduce scrap in line with OP targets, using Lean & Six Sigma techniques.
* Gather, monitor, and analyse production data to identify trends and prioritise improvement tasks.
* Provide technical support to the cross functional teams and production functions.
* Develop process flows, standard operating sheets, and PFMEA’s and work with cross functional teams to support product launch and APQP activities.
* Create robust engineering solutions to eliminate root cause with sustained performance to prevent reoccurrence.
* Liaise with customer and/or supplier as required, producing literature, and conducting external visits on request.
* Undertake any other duties of which the knowledge, skills and experience required fall within a post holder’s position in the company.


Education & Qualifications

* HNC/HND or equivalent level in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Discipline.
* Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is desirable.


Experience

* Previous experience in a similar manufacturing role is desirable.
* An awareness of electro/mechanical manufacturing processes.
* Knowledge of IATF16949, PPAP and APQP processes.
* Exposure to lean manufacturing methodologies.
* Previous experience with six sigma or a formal Green Belt qualification is desirable.


Skills & Attributes

* Understand automation processes, robotics, weld controllers DC tooling, dispensing system set etc.
* Exposure of using CAD (Autodesk Inventor).
* Excellent analytical and methodical approach to problem‑solving.
* Proficient using MS Office software.
* Confident with report writing and presentation skills for internal and external customer reviews.
* Must be self‑motivated and willing to be flexible providing engineering solutions.
