About the role:
The principal responsibility of the Review and Inspections Manager is to lead on, develop, and co-ordinate an effective strategic evaluation and inspection function in Devon and Cornwall Police, providing evidence that the force is delivering the force vision and strategic change against the Police & Crime Plan, Force Delivery & Strategic Plans and driving improvement against internal and external recommendations. In particular to:
* Lead, develop and coordinate the continuous improvement of the force against internal and external inspection recommendations.
* Co-ordinate force response to inspection frameworks, ensuring policy and systems are up to date and effective, so that risk is mitigated. Maintain effective relationships with, in particular, HMICFRS, representing the force at national meetings and ensuring relationships support inspection activity.
* The professional lead for evaluation, develop an effective and proportionate evaluation capability applying recognised methodologies to assess impact of policy, plans and change. Linked to this provide a reality testing capability to capture evidence that policy and procedure is being appropriately applied at the front line.
* Deliver an effective policy management function, ensuring policies are up to date, reflect current legislative, governmental, national and are cognisant of emerging threats and risks to the force, the public and the communities the force serves.
* Deliver an effective and accessible organisational learning function that captures both positive and negative outcomes from organisational change.
* Maintain and develop strategic relationships and deputise for Head and Deputy Head of Department on a regular basis.
