Overview
Bishop Fleming is a dynamic audit, accounting, tax and advisory business. Our strength lies in our people and the relationships they build with our clients and each other. That is why, among numerous other awards, we are Great Place to Work-Certified and ranked as a Best Workplace for Women!
What is Internal Audit?
Internal audit is about understanding how organisations work from the inside. Rather than focusing only on finance, you’ll get involved in reviewing and understanding:
* How organisations manage risk and make decisions
* Operational processes across different departments
* Governance, controls, and compliance frameworks
* Areas such as IT systems, procurement, Human Resources, and service delivery
You’ll work with a wide range of organisations, including companies, housing associations, charities, education providers, and other diverse organisations – giving you a broader and more varied experience than many traditional entry‑level roles.
Be part of our remarkable growth story, working with ambitious and inspiring clients across diverse industries.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Internal Audit Associate, you’ll be part of a team delivering internal audits for clients. From day one, you’ll start building practical skills and experience, gradually taking on more responsibility as your confidence and experience grow.
The Role Will Include
* Supporting internal audit reviews across a variety of organisations
* Learning how to assess risks and evaluate controls
* Speaking with client teams to understand how processes work
* Testing key controls and documenting findings
* Contributing to reports that help organisations improve
What You’ll Gain With Us
This role is designed for people who want to start working and learning straight away, rather than immediately entering an exam‑heavy programme.
You’ll Receive
* On‑the‑job training and support from experienced internal audit professionals
* Exposure to clients and real work from the beginning
* Structured development as you build your skills and confidence
There may be the opportunity, in time, to pursue a professional qualification such as the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), but this is something to consider once you’ve gained practical experience.
But it's not all about work. Our trainees are encouraged to make a wider contribution through business development activities and initiatives such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), diversity, sports and social activities. This allows you to develop into both technical experts and the potential future leaders of our business. We know this gives our business a refreshingly different, people‑focused culture. It is no coincidence then, that we've been ranked 11th in the Sunday Times Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers 2025 and have also achieved an Outstanding Ofsted rating.
