We are seeking a motivated and compassionate solicitor or Legal Executive, to join our fast paced, rapidly growing, friendly and highly regarded Community Care & Welfare team.
Reporting to the Partner and Head of Team, you will manage a caseload of privately fee-paying clients while receiving close supervision and ongoing training from senior members of the team.

The team specialises in the provision of highly tailored education, health, social care and welfare advice to Court of Protection Deputies, their clients and professionals in respect of children and adults living with a disability, injury or illness.
Experience/ Attributes required
Essential Skills
* Experience or demonstrable interest in Community Care/Public Law and/or Court of Protection matters, including overlapping issues relating to Property & Affairs and Health & Welfare. Experience of working with and advising Court of Protection Deputies, their clients and professionals such as case managers.
* Ability to manage a caseload of clients with appropriate supervision and mentoring.
* Strong client care and interpersonal skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with good attention to detail.
* Sound IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Desirable Skills
* Experience of Special Educational Needs law and/or Court of Protection Property & Affairs more widely.
* Some experience of advocacy (e.g. NHS Continuing Healthcare appeals or dispute resolution meetings).
Work type:
* Assisting with and managing a mixed caseload of statutory funding, welfare and Court of Protection matters under supervision.
* Supporting senior fee earners on complex cases and legal research.
* Drafting legal documents including advice letters, grounds of appeal, letters of instruction to experts and Counsel, witness statements, Court of Protection applications, pre-action letters for Judicial Review and more.
* Liaising with clients, experts, public bodies and counsel.
* Assisting with marketing events, seminars and business development activities.

As specialists in Court of Protection, we are well placed to provide statutory funding and welfare advice as part of our all-age service, keeping a careful eye on how the issues in dispute, sit with the scope of a Deputy’s general authority, pursuant to HHJ Hilder’s decisions in Re ACC, Calderdale and Lumb. The team works closely with our highly regarded Special Educational Needs team.
