The maternity service at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit an experienced, dynamic midwife to coordinate shifts on our labour ward and be part of the maternity Triage team. In addition, the Band 7 labour ward midwife acts as the maternity bleep holder out of hours and could be rotated to act as Band 7 lead in any of the clinical areas. As a senior member of our midwifery team, you will be expected to support the midwifery-led birth centre in facilitating choice and promoting normality.

The successful post holder will work within an already established team to provide high standards of personalised and evidence-based care to women and birthing people throughout pregnancy and beyond.

Main duties of the job
1. Fulfilling the role of a midwife as defined by the World Health Organization and the NMC Midwives Rules and Code of Practice.
2. Being responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of models of care, without supervision.
3. Supporting and leading the multi-professional and clinical development of midwifery and non-midwifery staff by demonstrating leadership and management skills, as well as undertaking extended clinical skills.
4. The ability to manage and lead the midwifery team effectively, ensuring compliance with relevant organizational policies, legislation, and regulations.
5. Demonstrating specialist knowledge and skills across a range of procedures, practices, and complex situations.
6. Exercising effective leadership by communicating and motivating staff towards shared goals.
7. Taking responsibility for personal development and maintaining an up-to-date professional portfolio, in line with the NMC revalidation process.

Person Specification
Criteria
* Registered midwife / Active NMC PIN
* Educated to a minimum of degree level or able to demonstrate evidence of working at degree level or commenced degree pathway
* Significant recent experience in midwifery
* Detailed experience of leadership and management
