This integrated way of working means you'll have the chance to contribute to a wide variety of high-profile, complex development projects, and play a key role within collaborative project teams from across the business. About the Role As a Town Planner, you’ll be involved in a diverse mix of projects across residential, commercial, mixed-use, and regeneration schemes throughout the West Midlands and beyond. You’ll work closely with local authorities, developers, and multidisciplinary teams to provide expert planning advice and drive projects forward. Key Responsibilities Undertake planning appraisals to advise clients on the likelihood of obtaining planning consent and the most appropriate strategy for achieving that Carry out research and analytical tasks, producing high-quality client-facing reports Support with the management of project teams, typically including architects and other consultants Prepare planning applications, including drafting Planning Statements and Statements of Community Involvement Prepare representations to Local Plan and other policy consultations on behalf of clients Research, prepare, and submit appeals against refusals of planning consent Assist in the preparation of proofs of evidence for senior staff acting as expert witnesses at planning inquiries Meet targets for fee-earning through the effective delivery of project work Contribute to the writing of tender proposals to secure new work Support business development through client research and idea generation Work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team settingRequirements: Honours degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Town Planning, Geography, Economics) RTPI-accredited planning degree Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) More than 2 years of private or public sector planning experience Strong understanding of the development management process Understanding of planning policy, including Local Plan preparation Demonstrable evidence of good report writing Proven research and analytical skills Effective project management, prioritisation, and time-management abilities Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate positive outcomes for clientsBenefits: Hybrid working: 2–3 days in the central Birmingham office A supportive and social team culture Clear career development path and mentoring Exposure to high-profile and meaningful projects Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits packageApply Now If you are interested in this Town Planner position, please contact Callum at Aztrum
