Job Description:
Kennelbuild is a specialist design and construction business delivering high‑quality animal care and kennel facilities across the UK. As we continue to scale, we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the delivery of our Construction Department.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who knows how to run multiple live projects, manage site and commercial teams, and keep delivery aligned to programme, quality, safety and margin. A background in shopfitting, interior fit‑out, fast‑track construction or specialist build projects would be highly relevant.
The role
As Operations Manager, you will take ownership of the operational performance of our Construction Department, overseeing projects from technical handover through to completion.
You will lead and coordinate key functions across delivery, commercial and design, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, to the right standard, and within agreed commercial parameters. You will also work closely with our Products / Manufacturing team to ensure smooth programme integration across the business.
This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who can bring structure, accountability and strong delivery discipline to a growing company.
Key responsibilities
* Lead the operational delivery of all live construction projects
* Oversee projects from Technical Design through to completion
* Manage programme performance and intervene where risks arise
* Ensure strong health and safety compliance across all sites
* Maintain high quality standards and minimise defects
* Oversee site mobilisation, sequencing, logistics and resource planning
* Line manage the Contracts Manager, Commercial Manager, Project Manager and Design Manager
* Ensure alignment between commercial performance and site delivery
* Support robust contract administration and commercial control
* Coordinate with the Manufacturing team on product integration and delivery timing
* Escalate operational and commercial risks where required
* Contribute to project reviews, delivery planning and continuous improvement
* Maintain strong client relationships throughout the construction phase
About you
We are looking for a strong operator with experience leading construction or fit‑out delivery teams in a fast‑paced environment.
You will likely come from one of the following backgrounds:
* Shopfitting
* Interior fit‑out
* Main contracting
* Specialist subcontracting
* Joinery / manufactured product‑led construction
You will ideally have:
* Proven experience in an Operations Manager, Contracts Manager or Senior Project delivery role
* A strong background in construction delivery, ideally with shopfitting or fit‑out experience
* Experience managing multiple live projects and coordinating cross‑functional teams
* Strong understanding of programme management, site operations and resource planning
* Good commercial awareness and experience working closely with QS / estimating functions
* Strong knowledge of health and safety and statutory construction requirements
* A proactive, organised and accountable leadership style
* The confidence to challenge sequencing, delivery methods and operational standards where needed
* Excellent communication and client‑facing skills
