Join to apply for the Senior Engineer – Mechanical Design role at MWH Treatment.
We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer based in our Hattersley office with hybrid working available. Your role will focus primarily on United Utilities' AMP8 Framework on projects in the North‑West region.
You will report directly to the Mechanical Regional Discipline Lead (RDL) and be responsible for delivering superior quality engineering design services to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce design layouts that are cost‑effective, meet spec requirements and can be constructed & commissioned effectively.
* Ensure that standard practices are utilised wherever possible.
* Maintain competitiveness.
* Provide estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.
* Work to procedures and processes that ensure continuing development of the department.
* Assist in developing, monitoring and reviewing procedures and processes.
* Ensure co‑ordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to MWH.
* Maintain files and records throughout contract duration.
* Assure customer satisfaction and maintain a customer‑centric culture.
* Maintain a personal development plan.
* Assist in supervising and developing staff.
* Ensure a safe working environment for everyone.
* Reduce waste from departmental activities.
* Ensure designs take account of environmental issues.
* Ensure full regard of all health and safety requirements.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Strong understanding of the principles of water and sewage treatment.
* Experience managing staff in designing relevant discipline aspects of treatment plants.
* Membership of a professional institution (i.e. IMechE) – incorporated, chartered or nearing application.
* Relevant discipline engineering degree.
* Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts.
* Good knowledge of all aspects of water treatment (mechanical, process, electrical, project management).
* Flexible mindset able to assimilate large amounts of different data quickly.
* Clear, confident, convincing technical proposal presentation skills.
* Computer literacy; full UK driving licence preferred.
* Flexibility to travel to home office and sites, including occasional site visits where public transport is limited.
