Occupational Therapist- CAMHS

Department: Allied Health Professionals and Psychology

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Priory Hospital Chelmsford

Compensation: £31,249 / year

Description

Priory Hospital Chelmsford is looking to recruit an Occupational Therapist CAMHS to join the team. This is a full-time/37.5 hours role.

Chelmsford is one of the UK’s leading treatment centres and is rated by former patients for its excellence, dedication and commitment, as well as producing outstanding treatment outcomes.

The hospital first opened in 1992 and since then, has established an excellent reputation for providing fast access to high quality treatment for a range of addictions as well as treatment for mental health difficulties.

We offer private autism assessments for adults and children, as well as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) assessments for young people. We also have a dedicated young people's mental health inpatient service, Willow Ward, which provides expert care in a supportive environment. As well as our inpatient offering for young people, we also offer a day hospital providing structured therapeutic support without the need for a full admission.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

* Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions for children and adolescents within CAMHS, supporting emotional wellbeing, functional independence, and developmental needs.
* Develop and implement individualised treatment plans that promote participation in daily activities, sensory regulation, social skills, and coping strategies across home, school, and community settings.
* Work collaboratively with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care, effective care planning, and positive therapeutic outcomes.
* Contribute to safeguarding, risk assessment, and crisis planning while maintaining accurate clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.
* Support service development through evidence-based practice, clinical audits, and ongoing professional development to enhance the quality of care for young people.

You can find additional information in the attached job description.

What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

Candidates should be HCPC-registered Occupational Therapists with experience working with children and adolescents, ideally within CAMHS, mental health, or neurodevelopmental services. A strong understanding of child development, sensory integration, emotional regulation, and family-centred practice is essential, along with experience in assessment, care planning, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Excellent communication, safeguarding knowledge, and the ability to build therapeutic relationships with young people and their families are highly valued, as is a commitment to continuous professional development.
