Job Overview
We are seeking a Document Specialist / Technical Writer to support the development, revision, and maintenance of technical product documentation within an engineering and manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will work with engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure technical documentation is accurate, structured, and ready for controlled release within enterprise document management systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Revise and update existing technical documentation, ensuring consistency with branding and documentation standards.
* Prepare documentation packages for release within a document control system.
* Collaborate with engineering, product, and quality teams to gather technical information.
* Create and maintain technical documentation including user manuals, product guides, and service documentation.
* Ensure documentation supports translation and localization requirements.
* Manage document versions and maintain document lifecycle processes.
* Work with multiple documentation projects simultaneously and manage delivery timelines.
Required Skills & Experience
* Minimum 2+ years of experience in technical writing or documentation within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong command of the English language and ability to write using Simplified Technical English principles.
* Proven experience creating structured technical documentation.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Technical Skills
* Experience with documentation tools such as Adobe FrameMaker.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and structured authoring.
* Familiarity with XML and content modelling concepts.
* Understanding of Content Management Systems and content reuse strategies.
* Experience working with document control systems such as SAP or similar platforms.
* Exposure to computer-aided translation tools is beneficial.
Education
* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent industry experience within engineering, manufacturing, or technology sectors.
Desirable Skills
* Experience working in regulated or highly structured technical environments.
* Knowledge of translation workflows and multi-language documentation processes.
* Experience managing multi-chapter technical documentation sets.
