DIRECTOR OF LEGAL SERVICES AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
THE JOB OPPORTUNITY
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and grow the Legal function of a boutique professional services firm, delivering real value to clients, the Legal team and to the business as a whole. The firm has four core disciplines: advisory, accountancy, legal, and tax, providing integrated services to clients.
The Director of Legal Services role is central to the success of the business, sitting on the Board, reporting to the Managing Director, and being part of the Senior Leadership team.
The Legal team currently comprises three departments, each headed by a Head of Department:
* Corporate/Commercial
* Employment & Immigration
* Litigation/IP & Art Law
The primary goal is to achieve revenue and profit targets through:
* Business development: acquiring new instructions from clients
* Leading and managing the Legal team
* Supporting clients with quality legal advice
* Maximizing team productivity
* Defining and delivering departmental strategy
Requirements:
Growth-focused: Experience in business development, with an established SME network, comfortable representing the brand externally, and supporting SMEs and the team to thrive.
Legal expertise: Legally qualified with expertise in Corporate or Commercial law preferred. Ability to diagnose client needs and apply legal solutions, with a focus on growth and client development.
Leadership: Experience leading a high-performing team, fostering an open and ambitious culture, with strengths in strategy and delivery.
Personal qualities: Curious, collaborative, commercial, with strong relationship-building skills, and comfortable with change and challenging conversations.
Skills required include 8-10 years of professional services experience, SME advising experience, strategic thinking, leadership, resilience, relationship-building, and communication skills.
Offered:
* Competitive salary: approximately £100k-£140k depending on experience
