Workshop Manager – West Bromwich, West Midlands
Permanent, Full time. Royal Mail is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead the delivery of cultural change at its West Bromwich site. You will be accountable for the performance of your Workshop, with responsibility for delivering performance against key Maintenance scorecard indicators, including Safety, Legal, Cost, People and Stakeholder performance measures. This role supports Royal Mail Fleet as we progress toward an all-electric delivery fleet by 2035, managing vehicle asset maintenance, buying/selling vehicles, accident repairs, and fuel/supplier contracts.
About The Role
You will be critical to ensuring the delivery of Fleet performance and meeting the requirements of the Operator in the most efficient and cost-effective way. You will also:
* Be accountable for compliance with legal and RM safety policies, meeting safety targets, and delivering maintenance services while optimising cost performance and forecasting through resource planning and booking tools
* Optimise the efficiency of Fleet Workshops to meet industry standard performance levels and deploy changes relating to Fleet Workshops
* Ensure effective engagement, communication and coaching to support and develop the Fleet Workshop team
* Be accountable for achieving all agreed targets, including internal Customer targets with SLAs through effective performance management
* Actively deploy, manage and support the maintenance of ISO 9001 quality standard within Fleet Workshops and support Continuous Improvement activities
* Effectively manage the local IR interface, working with union colleagues to deliver change
About You
Fully qualified to at least advanced level (IMI Level 3) in Light or Heavy vehicle maintenance & repair or an equivalent qualification. You are an established team leader with relevant industry knowledge and experience of dispersed maintenance operations. You should be able to:
* Effectively manage and build relations with stakeholders
* Influence and deliver results through people
* Manage and build relations with Trade Union partners
* Lead, develop and coach to drive performance improvement
* Be flexible to cover across multiple shift operations and may be required to travel to other sites within your area of responsibility

Next Steps
The next stage of the selection process will be a face-to-face interview with competency-based and role-specific questions, plus a presentation and scenario exercise. Interviews are planned for the week commencing 17th at West Bromwich Workshop. Royal Mail will provide interview questions in advance to help you prepare.
