We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Bolton, supporting children with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support for students with these specific needs, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a supportive and inclusive environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher and other specialists to help students overcome barriers to learning and foster their personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the class teacher in delivering a differentiated curriculum to students with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), acting as a Teaching Assistant in one:on:one and small group support.
* Provide support with behaviour management, using de:escalation techniques and reinforcing positive behaviour strategies to help children manage their emotions and reactions.
* As a Teaching Assistant, help create a calm, structured classroom environment that encourages learning and supports students with additional needs.
* Support children with LD and EBD in developing social and communication skills, promoting inclusion and positive peer relationships.
* Assist in monitoring progress and providing feedback to the class teacher on how interventions are impacting student learning and behaviour as a Teaching Assistant.
Essential Criteria:
* Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant with children who have Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
* A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
* Strong understanding of LD and EBD needs, with the ability to implement strategies to support academic and emotional development.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
* A patient, empathetic approach to working with children who require additional support, with a genuine passion for their learning and wellbeing as a Teaching Assistant.
Desirable:
* Experience using specific strategies for managing behaviour, such as Restorative Practices or Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
* Knowledge of interventions for Learning Disabilities (LD), including assistive technology or differentiated teaching methods.
* Familiarity with supporting students with EBD in managing their emotions and behaviours in both classroom and social settings.
* Experience working with a multidisciplinary team, including SENCOs and external professionals, to support children with additional needs.
* Understanding of how to prepare children for transitions, including assessments, school events, or changes in routine, as a Teaching Assistant.
