SEN Teacher – Full-Time, Permanent

The Opportunity:
A respected specialist school in Borehamwood is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis from January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator committed to supporting students with autism and related needs such as speech and language challenges, sensory processing difficulties, and behavioural regulation.
You'll be working within a supportive, well-resourced environment that values individualized learning and the holistic development of each student. The school fosters a strong staff-to-student ratio, creating a nurturing atmosphere where pupils receive the tailored support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver differentiated lessons for pupils with complex SEN, focusing on those with autism and other associated needs.
Use structured routines and visual aids to enhance communication and learning.
Collaborate with Teaching Assistants (TAs), therapists, and families to provide integrated support for students.
Monitor and report on pupil progress, tracking against EHCP outcomes and individual learning targets.
Employ evidence-based strategies to encourage emotional regulation, independence, and self-management.
Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe and supported.
Engage in professional development activities and contribute to the broader school community.
About You:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential.
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly within a specialist or alternative education setting.
Strong knowledge of autism and related developmental needs.
Patient, resilient, and nurturing with a genuine passion for working with SEN students.
Effective communicator, comfortable working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check (if not already held).
